Energy poverty poses a significant societal challenge, directly impacting the health and well-being of citizens. Approximately 54 million Europeans are affected, with high energy costs, low incomes, and poor housing contributing to the rise in energy poverty indices. Most EU countries still lack a clear quantification of the situation and fail to implement targeted measures to address this issue. Unfortunately, Greece is among the countries consistently recording high rates of energy poverty in recent years.
The European Commission operates the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub in response to this challenge. This Hub provides technical assistance to municipalities and regions across Europe, aiming to diagnose the phenomenon and propose solutions to alleviate its intensity. Among the benefiting municipalities receiving technical assistance are the municipalities of Grevena and Florina.
As part of this effort, an online stakeholders’ training activity on Nov 30, 2023, at 10:00 EET is conducted as part of EPAH’s technical assistance for the municipalities of Grevena and Eordaia in the Region of West Macedonia, Greece. In light of this, INZEB in collaboration with the Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CLuBE), invites stakeholders and civil society organisations to an educational and informative event. The goal of the event is to raise awareness about the nature of energy poverty, discuss existing European and national policies, and inform participants about the diagnostic process of the phenomenon.
The educational and informative event is scheduled with a duration of 2.5 hours. The event will take place online.
Together, we can work towards a more energy-inclusive and resilient future for all.
