Ministry of Environment and Energy of Greece Hosts ‘Energy Security and Green Development’ Conference

The Ministry of Environment and Energy of Greece is set to host a three-day conference titled “Energy Security and Green Development”, in Athens from November 27th to 29th, 2023. This significant event, organised within the framework of the “Communication Action Plan of the Ministry of Environment and Energy”, aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to informing and sensitising citizens about its environmental and energy policies. Co-funded by the European Union and ESIF 2014-2020 through the Operational Programme: “Transport Infrastructure, Environment, and Sustainable Development”, the conference aims to contribute to national and European perspectives on energy security and green development.

The central focus of the conference is to facilitate discussions on crucial topics such as environmental sustainability, climate protection, and the promotion of green technologies. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with lectures from international experts, specialised professionals, and academics, fostering an exchange of ideas on issues related to environmental sustainability and climate protection.

Among the distinguished participants in this prestigious event is INZEB under the capacity of Country Coordinator of Greece for the European Climate Pact, represented by its Managing Director, Alice Corovessi. Ms. Corovessi is scheduled to speak on the 28th of November during the “New Green Technologies” session. Her insights are anticipated to enrich the discourse on innovative green solutions, contributing significantly to the collective exploration of sustainable practices. During this session, notable contributions will also be made by Nektaria Karakatsani, the Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy, and Water, Panagiotis Grammelis, Director of Research at the Institute of Chemical Engineering and High-Temperature Processes of CERTH, and Athanasios Stoupos, Director of Research at Demokritos, who will be delivering presentations.

This conference serves as a critical platform for experts, stakeholders, and organisations to collaborate on driving progress in energy security and green development. The programme is designed to align with the country’s developmental goals, emphasising the importance of respecting natural resources, biodiversity, and ecological systems while addressing the impacts of climate change on both national and global levels.
