Energy Poverty Nexus aims to empower European Member States to address the urgent challenge of Energy Poverty and contribute to its long-term alleviation. The project’s objective will be achieved by strengthening national capacities, promoting policy alignment with EU legislation, and creating a robust framework for monitoring and mitigating energy poverty.
One of the core components of the Energy Poverty Nexus project is the establishment of Energy Poverty Observatories and the support of the existing ones in seven pilot countries (Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Hungary, and Poland). The observatories will play a key role in collecting data and monitoring indicators, facilitating collaboration among policy makers and stakeholders, and assisting national and regional authorities in designing integrated interventions and supporting schemes for energy poor households.
The Energy Poverty Nexus project also focuses on capacity building, knowledge dissemination and the exploitation of project’s results. Through training seminars, bilateral meetings, peer-to-peer workshops and webinars, stakeholders and policymakers in the seven pilot countries will be equipped with the tools, knowledge and methods needed to support the energy poverty observatories in their mission and replicate the project’s outcomes, by promoting energy poverty alleviation strategies and the creation of new observatories.
In parallel, Energy Poverty Nexus will support national authorities in their responsibility to stand up for energy-poor households, by developing action plans and policy recommendations for each pilot country
With a strong focus on achieving lasting impact, Energy Poverty Nexus is expected to generate considerable energy savings for households and improve the quality of life and environmental conditions for vulnerable social groups.
The Energy Poverty Nexus project is funded by the Programme for the Environment and Climate Action (LIFE), under Grant Agreement 101215621.
