The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) and INZEB will organise the 2nd National Roundtable of the SMAFIN Expanded project, which will take place on Friday, 9 May 2025 (09:30 – 15:00), at the Amalia Hotel in Athens, under the title “Supporting the Implementation of Smart Financing for Energy Efficiency in Greece.2025”.
The roundtable brings together representatives from the public sector, the market, the financial sector, and civil society. It aims to highlight policy and financing solutions that support investments in energy efficiency. The Social Climate Fund (SCF) and the Recovery and Resilience Facility tools are at the heart of the discussion, which aim to support vulnerable social groups and small enterprises.
The event will begin with the session “European and National Policy Framework for Energy Efficiency Financing”, moderated by journalist Konstantinos Deriziotis, Member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), with the participation of Dimitris Kardomateas, President & General Director of CRES, Dimitris Kollias, Office of the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Vicky Sita, Head of the General Directorate of Energy, Ministry of Environment and Energy, Panagiotis Habesis, Head of the Development Programmes and ESG Unit, Hellenic Bank Association (HBA), and Despoina Kouzioka, Head of the Climate and Environmental Strategy Division, National Bank of Greece.
Two parallel thematic sessions will follow, “Financing Energy Efficiency in Households” and “Financing Energy Efficiency in SMEs and Micro Enterprises.”
The first session, “Financing Energy Efficiency in Households”, focuses on financing residential energy upgrade interventions, emphasising reducing energy poverty and supporting vulnerable groups, within the framework of the Social Climate Fund. Contributions will be made by Manolis Kalogeris from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Vlasis Oikonomou, General Director of the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP), and Professor Dimitris Damigos from the National Technical University of Athens. A discussion with the participation of experts will follow. The session will be moderated by Alice Corovessi, Managing Director of INZEB.
The second session, “Financing Energy Efficiency in SMEs and Micro Enterprises”, will examine the options and available financing tools for small and micro enterprises, enabling them to implement energy-saving measures and respond to the challenges of the green transition. Contributions will be made by Christos Tourkolias from CRES, who will also moderate the session, Giannis Kostopoulos from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Dr. Sofia-Natalia Boemi from IEECP, and Alexandros Karolos Makropoulos from ACCI. A discussion with the participation of experts will follow.
