The TV Broadcasts for the EU Climate Pact, an initiative of INZEB and EU Climate Pact Ambassador Andreas Vassilopoulos, resumed after the summer vacations, with the fourth one addressing the topic of circular economy and SDGs, filmed on Monday, September 23, 2024. The invited experts were EU Climate Pact Ambassador and Assistant Professor Alexandros Stefanakis, School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete, and President of the International Ecological Engineering Society (IEES), and Professor Ioannis Nikolaou, Department of Environmental Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace. Together with EU Climate Ambassador Andreas Vassilopoulos and INZEB’s Managing Director and Country Coordinator for the EU Climate Pact Alice Corovessi, they discussed the subject of circular economy and SDGs, and their application in everyday life.
The panel focused on the model of circular economy and its key principles that highlighted the benefits of its adoption. The experts analysed the important role of Local Authorities, businesses and citizens in its understanding and implementation, and examined the benefits for each of them. Circular economy in Greece is moving forward supported by the newly established Hellenic Association of the Circular Economy, whose purpose and objectives were presented. In addition, the invited experts had the opportunity to showcase the outcomes from the first International Conference of the Association, which took place on 11-13 September 2024, in Chania.
