The 2nd National Roundtable of SMAFIN Expanded in Greece was successfully organised on Friday, May 9 2025. With the participation of 49 policymakers and experts from the finance an energy sectors, we explored sustainable finance and innovative models for boosting Energy Efficiency investments in buildings, SMEs, and tertiary sector enterprises.
The Plenary Session began with a welcome note and the presentation of the SMAFIN Expanded project by Kiki Papadopoulou, Head, Dissemination of RES & EE Applications Department, CRES. Vicky Sita, Head, Directorate-General for Energy, Ministry of Environment and Energy, gave a brief online speech, setting the tone for the next session, European and National Policy Framework for Financing Energy Efficiency. The discussion was moderated by Konstantinos Deriziotis, Journalist, Member of the Executive Committee & Head of Tourism, Member of the Board of Directors, Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), with the participation of Dimitris Kardomateas, President & General Director, CRES, Panagiotis Habesis, Head of Development Programs and ESG Unit, Hellenic Bank Association (HBA), Despoina Kouzioka, Head of Climate & Environmental Strategy, National Bank of Greece (NBG), and Vlassis Oikonomou, General Director, Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP).
The Roundtable continued with the two Parallel Sessions in Financing Energy Efficiency in Households and Financing Energy Efficiency in SMEs and Micro Enterprises. The first Session featured Manolis Kalogeris, Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Vlassis Oikonomou, General Director, Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP), and Professor Dimitris Damigos, National Technical University of Athens, and was moderated by Alice Corovessi, Managing Director, INZEB. Christos Tourkolias, Energy Policy Analysis Department, CRES, coordinated and also participated in the 2nd Session, alongside Giannis Kostopoulos, Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Dr. Sofia-Natalia Boemi, Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP), and Alexandros Karolos Makropoulos, Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry – ACCI. The 2nd Roundtable in Greece concluded with the presentation of the results from the two sessions.

The 2nd National Roundtable in Greece was organised by the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) and INZEB. SMAFIN Expanded builds on the legacy of the SMAFIN project (2020-2023).
