We are happy to announce our involvement in the groundbreaking EPBD.wise project, a venture to revolutionise Europe’s building landscape, with the European Union’s recent backing of the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), EPBD.wise steps in at a pivotal juncture to harness new standards and innovations in building performance across Europe, including Greece.
EPBD.wise is not just a project, it’s a collaborative effort. As a direct ally of public authorities in six European countries (Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine), the project will provide the tools and guidance to design and implement the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). With the recent agreement on the revised EPBD by the European Union institutions, EPBD.wise, in turn, seizes the moment to amplify the impact of Europe’s building policy, turning our climate goals into tangible results. Over three years, the project managers and researchers will work hand in hand with public authorities (such as ministries, municipalities, energy agencies, etc.) in these six countries to design, implement, and evaluate key provisions, ensuring our buildings align with our climate goals. Specifically:
- Support authorities in designing, implementing, and evaluating new or strengthened measures in the EPBD revision, including the new zero-emission building standard, national building renovation plans, renovation passports, energy performance certificates, and minimum energy performance standards across Europe.
- Build a replicable model to support the widespread implementation of these measures across Europe.
- Develop guidelines for designing new policies and instruments, measure their effectiveness (monitoring, reporting, and policy evaluation), and adjust them to EU and national needs and objectives.
