Recently, we had the chance to welcome members of the ICLEI Europe Action Fund and present to them the progress of our work for the development of the Athens Energy Portal.
In addition, we had the opportunity to visit with them some of the schools that have benefited by the initiative’s replication activities. In particular, we visited the 76th Primary School of Athens where smart applications, sensors and weather monitoring systems have been installed, as well as the 79th Athens Kindergarten, where planting & shading improvements have been completed to make the school’s yard a cooling place for kids’ time outdoors.
These are indicative examples of the ways the Athens Energy Portal initiative has been improving the quality of life and has been advancing social equity throughout the City of Athens, while supporting the municipality to optimize the energy consumption practices in its municipal buildings.
The Athens Energy Portal was developed by the National Technical University of Athens, INZEB, and in collaboration with the Municipality of the City of Athens, with funding from the ICLEI Europe Action Fund . The platform integrates real-time energy monitoring across more than 50 public buildings with artificial intelligence tools, enabling smarter energy management and optimised energy consumption.
