INZEB and the Social Cooperative Enterprise Anemos Ananeosis are consortium members of the European project WISE – Women in Solidarity for Energy. The project addresses energy poverty through a gender perspective, focusing on women who are disproportionately affected by energy insecurity across Europe.
In the European Union, it is estimated that 8–10% of households experience energy poverty. These rates are significantly higher in households headed by women, including single-person and single-parent households, older women living alone, migrant and refugee women, and other groups facing structural vulnerabilities.
Objectives of the WISE project
WISE aims to:
- raise awareness among the public and decision-makers about the specific challenges faced by women-led households in relation to energy poverty.
- strengthen women’s knowledge and understanding of energy issues and energy-related rights.
- support the co-creation of solutions through the active involvement of women affected by energy poverty, while fostering solidarity with other social groups.
Within this framework, INZEB and Anemos Ananeosis are organising a series of five online information and discussion sessions, each lasting 90 minutes.
Recognising the limited availability of many women, the sessions follow the same thematic structure but are offered on different dates, allowing participants to choose the session that best fits their schedule. The sessions are open to women from the general public and do not require any prior technical knowledge.
The thematic focus of the sessions includes:
- understanding energy poverty and its gendered impacts.
- energy solidarity in practice.
- everyday practices and collective solutions.
- women as agents of change within their communities.
- open discussion, exchange of experiences and Q&A.
