On the occasion of the EU Day for the Victims of the Global Climate Crisis, observed each year on 15 July, INZEB, in its capacity as the Country Coordinator for the European Climate Pact in Greece, is organising an online event on Friday, 10 July 2026, from 15:00 to 16:30.
The EU Day for the Victims of the Global Climate Crisis was established to honour the memory of those affected by climate-related disasters and to raise awareness of the growing impacts of the climate crisis on people, communities, ecosystems and livelihoods across Europe and beyond.
In recent years, Europe has experienced increasingly severe wildfires, floods, heatwaves and other extreme weather events. These events have demonstrated not only the environmental consequences of climate change but also their profound social, economic and humanitarian implications. Communities across Europe are facing new challenges that require preparedness, adaptation and collective action.
Against this backdrop, the event aims to create a space for reflection and dialogue on the impacts of the climate crisis, while highlighting the importance of resilience, solidarity and community preparedness. Through contributions from representatives of local authorities, civil society organisations, humanitarian actors, journalists and European Climate Pact Ambassadors, participants will explore lessons learned from recent disasters and discuss how communities can better prepare for future challenges.
The discussion will address a range of topics, including community resilience, disaster preparedness and response, the role of civil society and local authorities, humanitarian support for affected populations, and the importance of citizen engagement in addressing climate-related risks.
The event will also feature a series of short video messages from European Climate Pact Ambassadors across Greece, sharing personal reflections and experiences on climate impacts, resilience, and collective action.
Participation is open to all interested citizens, organisations, institutions and stakeholders.
