Educational Programme on Energy Poverty: Addressing the Phenomenon, Its Impact, and the Role of One Stop Shops

INZEB and DAFNI Network are proud to present an educational programme aimed at tackling the pressing issue of energy poverty, organised for Friday 16 June 2023, at 09:00 – 13:30 EEST. With a focus on the phenomenon, its consequences on citizens’ daily lives, the role of local authorities, and the potential of One Stop Shop services, this programme aims to raise awareness, sensitise stakeholders, and mobilise action. The collaborative efforts of INZEB and DAFNI Network underscore their commitment to addressing energy poverty and empowering communities across the 13 participating islands.

The programme is designed to span approximately 4.5 hours. Ample time is allocated for discussions and addressing participants’ queries. The primary objective of the educational programme is to inform, sensitise, and mobilise all stakeholders within the 13 island municipalities involved in the programme. Through technical assistance, the programme equips participants with the knowledge and information necessary to effectively address the growing issue of energy poverty.

The programme delves into eleven key aspects related to energy poverty, providing a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon and its far-reaching implications. By the programme’s conclusion, participants will have acquired a holistic knowledge of energy poverty, including its impact on individuals and communities, as well as strategies for mitigation. Furthermore, participants will be adequately prepared to conduct interviews and questionnaires with residents as part of the diagnosis process.

The educational programme is specifically designed for public officials working within the social and technical services of the municipalities receiving technical assistance from EPAH. Additionally, it extends its reach to the administrations and elected officials of the 13 island municipalities. The programme also welcomes representatives from civil society organisations operating within these municipalities, as they play a crucial role in supporting the diagnosis and mitigation processes.

INZEB and DAFNI Network’s joint initiative emphasises the importance of collaboration in addressing energy poverty. By bringing together experts, local authorities, and civil society organisations, the programme aims to foster a multidimensional approach to tackling energy poverty on the participating islands. Through knowledge sharing, the programme encourages collaboration among stakeholders, leading to more effective and sustainable solutions.

The educational programme on energy poverty, organised by INZEB and DAFNI Network, marks a significant step forward in addressing the pressing issue of energy poverty on the 13 participating islands. By providing comprehensive knowledge, empowering local authorities, and fostering collaboration, the programme aims to drive positive change and improve the lives of citizens affected by energy poverty. Through these collective efforts, we can create a more equitable and sustainable energy landscape, ensuring a brighter future for all communities involved.
