CONGREGATE Hosts Final Event of Project on Sustainable Energy Transition

INZEB, on the 31st of March 2023, at 14:00-15:30 CET, as partner of the CONGREGATE project, is hosting the final event of the project, in collaboration with the project partners, to promote sustainable energy transition through building renovation and the creation of energy cooperatives. The event will be held online, aiming to showcase the project’s methodology and results, as well as the potential for replication in other countries.

The CONGREGATE project, which began in November 2020 and ends in March 2023, focused on promoting interest and participation in building renovation and the creation of energy cooperatives. The project developed a communication strategy to support national building renovation strategies in Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania and promoted the establishment of public-private renewable energy cooperatives in Bulgaria, Greece, and the Czech Republic.

The final event, which will take place online, will feature project partners EnEffect (BG), Center for the Study of Democracy (BG), Cluster for Promoting Nearly Zero Energy Buildings Pro-Nzeb (RO), INZEB (GR), SEVEn (CZ), and the University of Zagreb – Faculty of Civil Engineering (HR). The working language for the event will be English, and registration is required to attend.

During the event, attendees will learn about successful practices and outcomes of the CONGREGATE project, including how current renovation programmes impact residents’ energy and financial savings and their behaviors and attitudes. The project’s findings will inform future national campaigns for civic engagement in building renovation programmes. Participants will also gain insights into establishing public-private renewable energy cooperatives, with case studies examined in Bulgaria, Greece, and the Czech Republic.

The CONGREGATE project aims to make sustainable building renovation and energy cooperatives visible to both citizens and potential investors. The project believes that these measures can support the sustainable energy transition and encourage “prosumer” behavior. However, these measures are not usually accompanied by adequate communication campaigns, which makes it difficult for citizens to learn about these successful practices. The final event of the CONGREGATE project is an opportunity for participants to learn about and discuss the project’s successful practices and the potential for replication in other countries.
