We were honoured to participate in the Balkan Green Ideas (BGI) Regional Competition 2025, held in Ohrid, North Macedonia, from September 28 to October 2. Organised by the Balkan Green Foundation, the competition brought together green entrepreneurs, civil society actors, and supporters of sustainable economic development from across the Western Balkans.
This annual event, now in its 13th year, continues to grow as a regional platform for innovation, resilience, and collaboration. Finalists from six countries presented their green business ideas, which had been refined through months of preparation during their respective national competitions. Their work demonstrated the power of grassroots entrepreneurship to strengthen communities, foster environmental protection, and reimagine inclusive local economies.
We were especially proud that Alice Corovessi, Managing Director of INZEB, was invited to serve on the international jury alongside a distinguished panel of experts in sustainable business and social innovation. Over the course of three days, the jury evaluated both early-stage and advanced green business proposals, contributing to thoughtful deliberations and celebrating bold, community-based ideas with the potential to scale.
We are deeply grateful to the Balkan Green Foundation for including us among such an esteemed team of jury members and for providing a platform that highlights the critical role of locally driven sustainability efforts in the region. The event not only showcased green entrepreneurship but also provided a meaningful opportunity for regional exchange, peer learning, and collaboration.
We left Ohrid inspired by the energy, creativity, and commitment of all participants, and look forward to continuing our engagement in this growing ecosystem for green and inclusive change.
